Health and Safety Representative Training
Health and safety representatives (HSRs) are new to NSW and play an important role in representing the health and safety interests of workers in a work group.
Part 5 of the NSW Work Health & Safety (WHS and Security & Risk Management) Act 2011 describes the requirements for consultation, representation and participation. Section 72 of the Act describes the obligation to train HSRs when requested.
Approved WHS training assists HSRs to understand and fulfil their roles and functions. HSRs are entitled to choose and attend an approved five day training course in WHS and a one day refresher course each year during their term of office.
HSR training courses can also be accessed by other members of your organisation such as health and safety committee members, managers and supervisors to assist them in understanding the legislation relating to consultation and the important role of the HSR.
SafeAbility is able to deliver both the WorkCover approved initial five day and the one day refresher Health and Safety Representative training courses through our Approved Training Provider (ATP).
